GSM based Programmable Energy Meter with Bill Estimation Display
The main goal of this project is designed to read the electrical energy paid in units and also in rupees to show on an LCD display.
The hardware requirements are; 8051 series Microcontroller, Level Shifter IC, GSM module, LCD, LED, Crystal, Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes, Transformer, Regulator, Opto-Isolator, Energy Meter, Lamp. The software requirements are; Keil compiler, Language: Embedded C or assembly.
Nowadays, the cost of an electricity has become an essential for the customer to know as to how much electricity is spent to control electricity bill in his budget. In this project, the customer will acquire his energy consumption data on a real time base on an LCD display. The similar data is sent through a GSM modem to the electricity department through an SMS. An 8051 family Microcontroller is interfaced to the programmable energy meter to acquire the Watt Hour pulses.
Based on the program, the Microcontroller processes the pulses to analyze the units spent and cost involved. Further, it gives a command to the SIM loaded GSM modem for transferring the data to the department of electricity through an SMS.
