1. Smart Fan Regulation By Soft Switching Technique using LabView
Energy conservation is the main consideration in homes and industries for efficient utilization of electrical energy and also for the reduction of electricity bills.This proposed project reduces the power consumption of the fans by regulating the fans in a smart way thereby, reducing the overall power consumption.
This is a new regulation technique of the fans which are connected either in series or parallel based on the humidity or temperature levels in homes. This system uses humidity and temperature sensors for sensing humidity and temperature inside the rooms and, based on these inputs fans are made to switch either in series or parallel.
When the temperature is low and humidity level is high, then the fans operate in series; the fans operates in parallel when the temperature is high amd humidity is low. Therefore, in series connection, the power consumption of the fans is half to that connected in parallel; thus, the power consumption can be eventually reduced and the speed of the fan can also be controlled. The LabView Programming is implemented such that it monitors the sensors and sends the control signals to a hardware control unit wherein the relays connected to the loads, which are switched accordingly.
2. Home Automation with Energy Gentrification
This project is developed to provide highly reliable automation in homes and industries and also to solve the energy scarcity problem. As one of the projects for electrical engineering students, this system is capable of controlling the home appliances through a centralized and low-cost automation system.
This project incorporates LabVIEW software along with data acquisition board with different sensors.Home appliances like fans, lights, and other equipments are connected through a relay module on the DAQ board. And, also different energy generation modules/sources like solar cells, battery power and generators are connected through this control mechanism to the loads.
This Sophisticated model allows the users to control the home appliances through LabVIEW front panel HMI in PC. And the system is programmed in such a way that, in the event of power interruption, the source of supply is change over to the other electric-power generation modules, automatically.
3. Railway Track And Gate Security System Using LabVIEW
Railway safety is the most crucial aspect of railways in the recent times as many accidents take place at the railway gate crossing due to unmanned-level crossings. Therefore, an automatic railway-crossing-gate controller is designed to prevent accidents at the level crossings using sensors.
This control system is integrated with the LabVIEW software, microcontroller based data acquisition system and sensors like proximity and IR sensors. Two proximity sensors are placed on both sides of the gate of the level crossing gate with a specified distance. An IR sensor is placed in front of the gate for detecting any obstacles on railway track. Thus, this project ensures both track and gate security system.
When a train approaches towards the gate, first proximity sensor gets activated and sends the signal to the microcontroller unit, which in turn, is acquired to LabVIEW. So the LabVIEW program sends the control signals to microcontroller in order to actuate the gate through a motor driver and the gate closes. When the train departs, the gate gets opened by the signal from the second proximity sensor. In the event of any obstacle at the crossing gate, the IR sensor detects and sends the signals to LabVIEW, and then it generates RED signals to stop the train automatically.
4. Wireless Sensors Based Traffic Light System with Override for Emergency
The project discussed here provides an advanced traffic light control system with an override facility for emergency vehicles. In case of more than one emergency vehicle at different junctions this system prioritizes the vehicles upon intelligent programming.
This system uses data acquisition module for every junction to which different IR sensors are connected. LabVIEW is programmed in such a way that the traffic system can be operated in different modes like automatic time duration for every junction; density-based system and manual ON/OFF control. The user can operate in front panel HMI of LabVIEW depends on requirement.
This project also provides the preemption of traffic system when the emergency vehicles approaches the signal with emergency sensing equipments at the junctions.
5. SCADA for Industrial Control System
Many of the industry’s control actions are performed automatically with the use of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). And, the functionality of the control system is to monitor data from various sensors and check whether the values are maintained within the set limits or not.
This LabVIEW based proposed system gives real time implementation Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) for the industries by continuously monitoring and controlling the industrial process parameters like temperature, pressure, smoke and fire with the use of sensors. LabVIEW data acquisition hardware collects the different parameter values and their status through connected sensors to it. Depending on the program in the LabVIEW, it sends the control signals to the remote area wherein all the equipments are connected.
