Microcontroller Based Projects on Car Security System

March 28, 2014 by Tarun Agarwal 12 Comments

Car security system with GSMNowadays crime rate is increasing day by day as it is quite evident from the fact that thefts have become a matter of routine. The vehicle thefts particularly cars may incur huge loss on the part of the amount invested on these vehicles. Therefore, the need of the hour is a better anti-theft control system that can be implemented by using several technologies like GPS, GSM, GPRS systems. This article provides some of the microcontroller-based projects for the car security system that are intended to  protect the cars from being stolen even if they are parked in the parking area.

1. RFID Based Paid Car Parking System

The aim of this project is to design a paid car parking system by using RFID technology. The RFID cards are used to store some kind of information that is used for assessing security. RFIDs are categorized based on the frequency ranges like low, mid and high frequencies.

This RFID based paid car parking system is more secure compared to the normal car parking systems. In this project, a motor is attached to the parking gate for opening and closing operations that are particularly operated only when RFID authorizes them. A buzzer is used to indicate the validity of the card.

To minimize the cost, the project is designed with a set of switches for RFID cards. When a vehicle enters the parking lot, this system asks for the card to be swiped, without card cars are not allowed inside. Once the card is swiped and by pressing one switch it compares the information in the microcontroller and authenticates it, and accordingly sends the signals to the motor diver circuit in such a way that it operates to open the gate.

The system also displays the amount deducted from that card and the number of vehicles present in the parking lot. If the card doesn’t have enough money, then it displays the information and doesn’t send the control signals to the motor driver. In this way, one can implement the car security system by using a microcontroller to park a car in any particular parking area.

2. Advanced Vehicle Security System with a Theft-Control Notification

With rapid urbanization, vehicles have been increasing day by day in our country, and along with that vehicles’ thefts have also been increasing day by day. Keeping this concept in mind, the proposed system is implemented to reduce vehicles’ thefts by finding the exact location of a vehicle by using a GPS modem.

This project uses a power supply block, a microcontroller, a GPS, a GSM modem, Max232, and other miscellaneous components. The GPS system retrieves the location of the vehicle in terms of its latitude and longitude positions. The microcontroller gets the information from the GPS modem through MAX232 and passes it to the GSM modem.

The GSM modem sends the location data to the predefined mobile that stores the data in it. An LCD screen displays the location information in terms of longitude and latitude values. The microcontroller is programmed with the Keil software and continuously monitors the GPS modem.

3. Car Security System Using GSM

This project also uses GSM technology for car security system due to the bounty of mobile users. Additionally, this project has different sensors like vibration, obstacle, rotation, micro switches and battery sensors.

This system gets activated when vibration occurs, battery gets ignited, a revolution takes place, or any of the front doors remain open or an obstacle comes in any particular area. If any of these parameters is detected, the microcontroller sends the signals to the buzzer, the LCD display and to the GSM modem.

The MAX232 acts as an interface between the GSM modem and the microcontroller to change the TTL signals to RS232 signals. The microcontroller acts a heart of the system as it accepts the signals from these sensors, and accordingly, alerts the buzzer and also sends the signals to the GSM modem, which then sends that information to the owner of the vehicle.

These are the microcontroller based project for car security systems. By using these projects, one can track and detect a vehicle with the GSM modem attached to that vehicle. Furthermore, any ideas or doubts about the implementation of these projects in car security systems, you can write to us in the comments section so that we will help you out in this area.

Hello, I am doing a project for my final year. It is a Smart Parking System with parking detection via Android.
That is in the system, the sensors senses when there is a car, then the result is sent online. A mobile application can then see the results.

Please suggest a project if you have one! Thank you.
    I need help asap
